David Slaying Goliath

Gustave Doré’s engraving for the 1866 Bible. David stands over the fallen giant and lifts Goliath’s own sword to finish what a single stone began. What I keep is the moment of resolve, not the violence: the giant is already beaten the instant you decide to face it, and the tools to finish the job are often the ones it brought to the fight.
